From when we first arrived in the region of Le Marche, I noticed that people spoke of the town of Monte San Martino with a certain reverence, as if a miracle had occurred there.
It was really special-- and it's a charming little town, so always fun to visit. I've been watching Artists Behaving Badly most of my life, so always happy to share :) Buona Pasqua a voi-- looking forward to seeing all of you this summer!
Eric I love this, thanks for sharing! I first discovered Carlo during art history on my year of abroad in Florence 1976, and I’ve been hooked ever since! It is always a delight to stumble across one of his works by surprise in some museum, and I love, knowing more of this obscure history! Buona Pasqua!!
You know, I would read all your columns only for the writing itself, it is so lovely and intelligent and quietly funny. But when you write such an interesting, well-researched and fascinating story such as this, you have me forever. Thanks for being incredible and sharing your talents so thoughtfully with all us readers. I am glad that we are co-expats in this wonderful country that you clearly love as deeply as I do. Maybe some day our paths will cross.
What a special experience this must have been to see the altar up close! Thanks for sharing it with us! And, I somehow missed Episode 502 of Artists Behaving Badly, so I’m thrilled you brought us up to speed! :) Buona Pasqua to you and C!
Thanks so much-- really glad you enjoyed it. I didn't know much about Crivelli until we came to Marche, so you're way ahead of me. If you ever get to Marche, definitely take a spin by Monte San Martino-- it's a very interesting place to see both Carlo's work and his brother. Really appreciate you taking time to comment!
Thanks so much-- I really appreciate your kind comments. I so enjoy Letters from a Thee Hundred Year Old Italian Farmhouse and feel the same about your writing. You're wonderful at capturing the allure and excitement of a restoration adventure. I do hope our paths will cross at some point. We're splitting time these days between Rome and Le Marche but in the summer should be up in Le Marche much more often. If there's a point at which we're in Piemonte, I will definitely reach out. It's a place I've so been wanting to visit, and your writing really brings it to like. Thanks again for all the support. Look forward to being in touch. And of course, good luck with the house project-- enjoy the adventure!

Lovely. Just lovely. The paintings and your story. Thank you. From another very happy expat.
Lovely, Eric. Thanks.
