It seems everyone’s competing for something this month: Seahawks versus Patriots, Bad Bunny against Kid Rock, Heathcliff battling Edgar for Catherine at Wuthering Heights, Fedez taking on J-Ax at Sanremo.
Great piece. Best I've read about the Milan end of the Olympics. I'm on the other end. I'm covering alpine skiing in Cortina for Colorado Public Radio. Beautiful setting but putting Italians in charge of transportation is like putting Saudis in charge of a pub crawl. You can't get anywhere. Here's my take I did on my first night on the town in Cortina: https://dogearedpassport.substack.com/p/my-night-in-italys-chicest-town-with
John-- thanks so much-- really appreciate the kind comments. I was wondering about the situation in Cortina-- as I know it's a bitch to get there in the first place. It sounded wildly impractical. Can't wait to read your report! And that's a great line by the way about putting Italians in charge of transportation. I hope you used that in the story!
So glad you enjoyed it! We live in Rome, but were lucky to have friends in Milan who we could stay with-- obviously, hotels were crazy. But it was a special experience to see the city filled with visitors from so many different places.
I love watching the figure ice skating competition, they make it look so easy . thanks for your insights...
I have to say I’ve been converted this year— really exciting and drama-filled competition! Last night was a doozy.

Wow. Wonderfully characterised. Thank you for the whimsical and glorious images you’ve helped create as I re-read and walked with you.
