Yes-- I'm kind of fascinated by FAI and want to learn more about it. I first came across FAI in regard to a park area in Assisi that they protect. Thanks for reminding me-- I'm going to subscribe to their newsletter.
with my companion we were organizers of the FAI group in viterbo back in 2003, 2005 it went well but then became a prestige thing for the local ladies looking for something to do. We brought a group of 30+ to UK for a tour of the National Trust gardens and castles, opened dozens of exclusive for 3 or 4 years for the giornate di primavera, kept money flowing in to the Milano headquarters... a huge fatigue and lots of lessons learned. Love volunteering but.... never a word of thanks from the Milano headquarters.
I only made it through because I knew I had to call everyone and report back. Otherwise I’d still be down there.
I also follow the FAI page and look for the wonderful places that are opened on special occassions.
