It's a big difference! There was one bottle we bought in Sorrento from a very artigianale vendor that was quite good. But most of the mass-produced stuff is just not the same. Thanks so much for the comment!
Have so enjoyed your posts from your trip-- eager to read the Firenze post tomorrow. We're in Rome at the moment and our cousins are arriving here from a few days in Firenze. Then on to Marche! Thanks for the very kind comments-- so glad you enjoyed the post. The trickiest part of the limoncello-making in Italy is that you have to buy the lemons and peel them within a certain amount of time, and then leave them for 30 days and return to get them. We're rarely here for long enough to go through the whole process. And as we learned last year, the lemons are pretty particular about the timing. Hopefully, this year goes better! Safe travels!
This is great! Although, never in my life would I have ever imagined C being compared to cousin Jethro! 😂 We are looking forward to a World Famous Limoncello update! 🍋🍋🍋
What a great story! ...and so beautifully written! I've always dreamed of making limoncello but never have. Your story has inspired me!
We leave Firenze in a few days and head back to the States. It has been a wonderful trip, in spite of the mobs. We have managed to find and enjoy several out of the way places! Looking forward to hearing about your latest batch of limoncello!
Great post! I loved it! As a chemist, two things, 3 days are enough to gestate, and ethanol is not explosive. Enjoy your limoncello, experimenting in the kitchen is a great thing to do!
You know, she’s just a crazy Oregon redneck at heart! I’ll let you know how it goes this year!
That's crazy-- everybody's thinking limoncello these days! Let me know how yours comes out!
Wow-- you're as devious as she is. Great. Now I'm in the smuggling business as well.

Excellent news— I clearly am NOT a chemist. I can drink my limoncello in peace! Thanks a much fr the info!
So, so true. Although I also wouldn’t have been surprised if she blew up the house trying :) Thanks so much for the comment!

Surely C can figure out how to "import" this in tiny perfume bottles!!!
