For an Italian living in France, it’s surprising to be labeled as a complainer.
Indeed, since the French have a certain talent for complaining, strikes, and a touch of pessimism, I’m often categorized here as an incurable optimist!
Yes! Thanks for sharing your insights. I used to be the same but years of working with people from all over the world who are simply crazy about Italy has taught me to see how many things there are to be grateful for in Italy. We tend to think that everything is in the past and it really isn't. Sure, there are plenty of very tangible problems but if we never take the time to look around us and appreciate all that is, what's the point? I'm so much happier as a result of this gratitude practice.
Bravo Eric.....hope you have a good Thanksgiving... any turkey and cranberry sauce ?? Ive given up on all that...its a regular work day... bank in the morning, presentation at the library in the afternoon...
So glad you found Life Lived Italian, and congrats on the upcoming move. Of course changing countries is an adjustment, but Italy has never disappointed us. It continues to surprise me with the amount of beauty to discover, both in places and people. And it's a lifestyle that feels deeply human-- easy, safe, friendly, and connected. I look forward to hearing about your experiences.
Thanks for your thoughtful ideas and your beautiful writing!

Everything, after all, is relative 😅
Lamentarsi is an art form. And I will never tire of this song.
In Liguria it is called "mugugno" and it is common from La Spezia to Imperia. It's not only a complain, it's a way of life.

Haha yes, complaining is our national sport together with football. Happy Thanksgiving!
Canadian's did it last month. Gave thanks.
Be grateful. Be alive. As my grandmother used to say: 'it is much better than the alternative'
Happy Thanksgiving! (Napule’ is one of my favorite songs, thank you for the video)
Wonderful thoughts beautifully written, Eric. Thank you.
