I really like Osteria Benito e Gilberto on Via Del Falco— mainly a seafood place but just off Borgo Pio on Via Del Falco. We’ve also had really good experiences at Arlu on Borgo Pio— they also have a very nice wine bar that does tastings, etc. by special arrangement. Il Matriciano which is nearby is also a good traditional Roman spot. Hope that helps!!

I loved the Dolce & Gabbana show! I have to say, I'm a bit of a cynic when it comes to these branded museum things-- feels like just a corporate attempt to cash in to me. But the designs here are so breathtakingly beautiful and eccentric and all of the other elements-- the design of the rooms, the concepts, the sound design, etc.-- are at such a high level that I was completely won over. It's pretty spectacular.

What a week! Did you enjoy the Dolce & Gabbana show? I didn’t make it when I was in town last week, but plan on going in June.

This was a fun read, fellow Eric.

A question: I read that you live in the Borgo Pio. It may be counter-productive to ask this in a pubic forum, but can you suggest any good ristoranti or osterie that don't cater to tourists? It used to be easy, but I've been disappointed the last few meals there.

Hi, did I read that correctly? Did you say you were now living in Rome?

Yea— have been here about six months. We split our time between an apartment in Rome and the house in Marche. Will probably spend most of the summer at the house, but really loving our time in Rome as well!

From the looks of the bar outside our window, they may have already kicked off the campaign.

Indeed-- she was great. So funny because Gauff looked so impressive taking the court-- just much bigger, taller, more athletic-looking. But Paolini was in total control. And she hits hard! It was also interesting because the Italian crowd, which had received a fair amount of criticism before the match, was actually very respectful. Obviously, they were completely in Paolini's corner, but they like Gauff, and most of the time, if she was playing anyone other than an Italian, they would have been cheering her on. Even Gauff mentioned at the end of the match that the Italians had always been supportive and that she appreciated how respectful they were.
